This week we experienced Ash Wednesday: What do the ashes represent? Why do we do this? Why is it important?
Verse to consider:
Ecclesiastes 3:20: 20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.
We expand the conversation into what is Lent? Why do we have this season? And what will Trinity do during Lent?
Finally, we have a great conversation on fasting. What does Martin Luther say about it? What about the Bible? Is it something that should be done?
More scripture to ponder:
Matthew 6:16-18: 16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. "
John 3:16: 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
