The Gospel reading this week brought a Beatles tune to mind. John Lennon is considered by many to be one of the 20th Century’s greatest poets, but one of his most confusing lyrics is from “I Am the Walrus.” Yet, if you compare a portion of those lyrics to Jesus’ words as quoted by John, you will note an interesting similarity. But they are vastly different altogether.

“I am he as you are he as you are me
And we are all together” – I Am the Walrus

“[Just] as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us…I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one” – The Gospel of John
